Dhari Devi Temple – The Guardian Goddess of Uttarakhand.
Perched on a rock in the middle of the Alaknanda River near Srinagar, Dhari Devi Temple is one of Uttarakhand’s most revered Shakti Peeths. Maa Dhari Devi is worshipped as the protector of the Char Dham and the guardian goddess of the entire state.
According to tradition, the upper half of the Goddess is enshrined here, while the lower half is worshipped at Kalimath Temple. Devotees also believe that the Vigraha mysteriously changes its appearance during the day—from a young girl in the morning, to a youthful woman in the afternoon, and an elderly mother by evening.
